Step-By-Step Solar Installation Guide

-Inspect, then store purchased components in a secure, dry place.
-Read the installation guides
-Devise a safety plan
-Set up your staging area and logistics
-Assemble the tools you'll need
-Measure out and install the mounts
-Install the racking and equipment grounding wire
-Install the micro inverters (if applicable), then the modules
-Mount your central inverter (if using one), junction box and other electrical devices
-Install conduit
-Run the wire and make all the electrical connections
-Affix all required safety/danger labels
-Connect your systems monitoring gear (if any)

First, Bury conduit in the area where the solar panel array will be located and build a platform on it.
Second, mount the panels on the platform and secure them in place using angle brackets.
Third, Secure the rear legs after determining the proper angle for the array.
Forth, wire the solar modules where the red wires are to be connected to the positive terminal and the black wires connected to the negative terminal.
Fifth, connect the cables to the solar panel where red cables are connected to PV out positive terminal block and black cables are connected to PV out negative terminal blocks.
Sixth, ground the system by tapping a grounding rod into the earth near the array and leave the rod extending about the ground about 6.
Seventh, run the green copper grounding wire from the rod to the fuse box and from the solar panels to the fuse box.
Eighth, make the electrical connection inside of the building where red wire is connected to the positive terminal, the green grounding wire is connected to the grounding terminal, and the black wire is connected to the negative terminal.
Lastly, complete final testing and attach the component covers.

1. On the roof, lay out the locations of the stanchions that will support the solar panels.
2. Screw each stanchion through the roof and into a roof rafter. Also, be sure the stanchion flashing fits beneath the roof shingles to prevent leaks.
3. Fasten the upper and lower aluminum rails to the stanchions with stainless steel bolts. Tighten the bolts with an impact driver.
4. Measure diagonally across from the end of the upper rail to the end of the lower rail. Repeat to measure the opposite diagonal distance. If the two measurements are equal, then the rails are square. If they're not equal, adjust one of the rails.
5. Now install the middle rail, aligning it with the upper and lower rail.
6. Run electrical conduit and wiring up to each array of solar panels.
7. Install a micro inverter beneath each solar panel, effectively wiring the panels in parallel with each other, not in series.
8. Securely attach a 6-gauge bare copper grounding wire to each inverter, which will ground the entire system.
9. Make the wire connections from the location of one array of solar panels to the next.
10. Set the solar panel onto the stanchions, snap together the plug connections, then screw the retaining clips to the rails to secure the panel.
11. From inside the basement, complete the electrical work by extending the wires from the solar panels, through a new electrical meter and into an electrical sub-panel.

1) Bury conduit and build a platform.
2) Mount the panels to the right platform.
3) Secure the rear legs to proper angle.
4) Wire the solar modules a junction connector or fuse combiner box.
5) Correct angle and understand the wire connections.
6) Connect the cables to the control panels.
7) Extend the rod above the grounded system.
8) Connect electrical inside the grounding terminal.
